SE Lab welcomes undergraduate and graduate students from Politeknik Negeri Malang—especially those in Information Technology and related programs—as well as external researchers and collaborators. Students typically join through thesis supervision, internships, or research assistant positions. We value curiosity, initiative, and a genuine interest in software engineering research.

We expect familiarity with at least one programming language (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, or similar) and basic understanding of software engineering concepts such as version control, testing, and software design. Specific prerequisites vary by project—some require web development experience, others need data analysis or machine learning background. Time commitment depends on the role. Thesis students typically engage for one semester, interns contribute 10–20 hours per week, and research assistants commit at least 10 hours per week. We accommodate academic schedules and encourage students to balance lab work with coursework.

SE Lab has three main research streams: (1) Software Engineering Methodologies & Architecture—covering software design patterns, microservices, and development processes; (2) Emerging Technologies in SE—exploring AI/ML for software engineering, NLP, and intelligent systems; (3) Domain-Specific SE Applications—applying software engineering to education, health, and other sectors. Each stream has dedicated researchers and ongoing projects.

Our active projects span code quality analysis tools, thesis management platforms, AI-assisted requirements engineering, microservices reference architectures, and educational technology applications. Each publication page provides BibTeX, RIS, and APA citation formats via the citation panel. For datasets and software artifacts, check the associated project repository for license information. Most lab repositories use MIT or Apache 2.0 licenses. If a dataset or tool does not specify a license, please contact the corresponding researcher before use.

Yes. We actively collaborate with industry partners, government agencies, other academic institutions, and community organizations. Collaboration can take the form of joint research projects, student thesis co-supervision, guest lectures, or sponsored development. SE Lab produces scholarly publications (journal articles, conference papers, book chapters), open-source software projects, technical books, presentation decks, and educational content.
