The Scoping Litmus Test
For every feature you are tempted to add, ask: “If I remove this, can I still test my riskiest assumption?” If the answer is yes, remove it. Features that fail the litmus test go into a backlog labeled “Post-Validation” — not “Sprint 2”, because there may never be a Sprint 2 if the assumption is false.

Why it kills startups: When you build for everyone, you build for no one. Features that delight one persona annoy another. Your messaging becomes generic. Your conversion rate drops because nobody feels “this is for me.”
The fix: Pick one persona. Write their name on a sticky note. For the next 30 days, every product decision must start with: “Does this help [Persona Name] solve [their specific problem]?” If a feature helps another persona but not the primary one, it goes in the backlog — permanently.
